My friend Shannon Slaughter wrote this song and it struck me as a winner the first time I heard it. Tim Stafford liked it so much that he suggested that he would want it for Blue Highway if we did not use it for the AcuTab project. He and Ronnie Bowman rearranged it a bit in the studio and Ronnie did a beautiful job on the vocal. It was great to have Dan Tyminski add harmony; he and Ronnie have always sounded terrific together.
Dan was not available when we cut the tracks so he stopped in a few days later and put down the other part. Tim had meant for this to be sung as a duet but we forgot to transmit that info to Dan. He and Tim must be on the same wavelength because when we heard the track after Dan was finished with it, he had sung only the single tenor line with no third part just as Tim had conceived of it.

This song was also the source of an especially odd event in the studio. Ron Stewart added his fiddle break after everything but the harmony vocal was done and we were hoping to knock the fiddle parts out for a couple more tunes before we quit for the day. Just after Ron cut this solo, he noticed his fiddle going out of tune and looked up to see that the fingerboard had come completely loose from the neck! Fortunately Kenny Smith lived nearby and had the woodworking tools to get it squared away. Ron shot over to Kenny's and they had the fiddle ready to go first thing the next morning.
"I'm real excited about having my song on this outstanding project. AcuTab has assembled a stellar lineup, one that really "GROOVES" when playing together. Ronnie and Dan give the song that lonesome feel I imagined when I wrote it, and Ron Stewart's fiddle playing is stout."
"It was a great honor to be able to get into the studio and cut these tracks with such accomplished musicians. Some I had worked with before, and some I had not. But when the red light was on, boy what a blast we had!!! Here's hoping that you enjoy listening to them as much as we enjoyed recording them."
