When Mark Newton suggested including this song I quickly realized that Baucom was the man for the job. Nobody drives it home on banjo like Terry and here he delivers his signature sound throughout. Mark does a fine job on the vocal (with Dan Tyminski adding both harmonies) and Ron Stewart's fiddle break is a stellar tribute to the original Jimmy Martin cut from the 60's.
It was great watching these guys work this up in the studio.

Obviously, they were all familiar with this classic song so it fell together rather quickly. I think they may have played it through a time or two and then headed into the booths to cut it. There was no stated intention to arrange and perform the song in a "Jimmy Martin style," but once Ron played his fiddle solo during a rehearsal, everyone jumped onto the same page.
"Growing up on this music, Jimmy Martin has been a huge influence in shaping my musical direction. Timing and drive along with great vocals has been the trademark of his music. Buck White wrote and gave Jimmy this song when Jimmy was working the Louisiana Hayride. With Terry's drive and Ron's old school touch on the fiddle, complimented by Barry, Tim, Alan and Dan it simply doesn't get any better then this. Jimmy would be proud!"
"I appreciate John and Tim asking me to be involved with this project. It was a pleasure working with musicians who have created their own distinctive styles and placed their names among the innovators of bluegrass and acoustic music, as well as working with the younger players who are using their own unique talents to make names for themselves among the current generation of bluegrass musicians."
