Shannon Slaughter
Songwriter - Lonesome Wind
A native of Chiefland, FL, Shannon moved to Radford, VA in 1992 to be closer to "the music." He quickly earned a reputation as a very talented singer, guitarist and songwriter. After a short four month stint with The Lost & Found, he found himself working with the Larry Stephenson Band from '92-'95. Shannon performed and recorded for the next few years with NC-based After Five and is now working on a debut recording with his own group, Savannah Road.
In addition to the Knee Deep In Bluegrass project, his songs have been recorded by Larry Stephenson, Jody King and After Five. Besides his abiding love for bluegrass music, Shannon is a MAJOR sports enthusiast.
He currently teaches, and is an assistant football coach at Wilkes Central High School in North Wilkesboro, NC.
