Since Lonesome River Band started picking up steam in the early 90s, Sammy has been making his presence felt in bluegrass music. He has won the IBMA Banjo Player of The Year four times and his two AcuTab books are among the best sellers in the catalog. Sammy has also recently released his first instructional banjo video, produced by AcuTab.
It would be hard to overstate the impact Sammy has had on banjo players and bluegrass music since he emerged as one of the top pickers. Sammy's first solo project, "Leading Roll," was released on Sugar Hill in 1997 and stayed on the charts for the better part of that year.
His stage persona and powerful, soulful banjo style have been a big part of the success of Lonesome River Band.
