Mark Mathewson's songs have been recorded by AcuTab artists Kenny Smith, the Lonesome River Band (Kenny Smith and Sammy Shelor), and Blue Highway (Tim Stafford and Tom Adams) and by many other bluegrass performers.
In 1995 he won Merlefest's Chris Austin Songwriting Contest in the bluegrass category (winners from earlier years include Gillian Welch and Kim Fox).
In 1998 he joined Claire Lynch and Paul Craft as a songwriting workshop panelist for the International Bluegrass Music Association's World of Bluegrass trade show in Louisville.
Mark lives with his family near Springfield, Illinois, where he co-hosts a weekly bluegrass show on WUIS radio.
