Alan performed with a number of groups in and around bluegrass music but, with the emergence of The Nashville Bluegrass Band, the world began to sit up and take notice of this terrific singer and songwriter. His uniquely agile and expressive voice is always in demand for Nashville sessions and his name seems to be a staple when the IBMA Male Vocalist nominations come in each year.

Alan's tune, "These Memories," was a giant hit for Dolly Parton when she recorded it with Linda Ronstadt and Emmy Lou Harris on The Trio album. Dolly features Alan singing harmony with her on her award-winning, all-bluegrass release, "The Grass Is Blue" on Sugar Hill.

Listen to Alan's comments about his participation in the Knee Deep CD.
